Update on Auntie Nickie Hines
Chuck Von Arnswaldt emailed an update on Auntie Nickie Hines:
"We visited with Nickie just prior to being discharged from Castle Hospital. She's still in a coma and will be cared for by Island Hospice at her home in Waimanalo.
Ask everyone to continue to pray for her and her family.

Nā Momi Ho‘oheno was created to capture the treasured life stories of our Hawaiian people so that future generations might be enriched by these priceless mo‘olelo of our cherished and unique way of life.Elaine Nickie Ahuna Hines was born in Hilo, Hawai‘i on August 28, 1927. Aunty Nickie has been playing Hawaiian music for more than 70 years. At the age of 9, she made her first professional debut with noted Hilo singer / composer, Albert Nahale-a. Since then she has played with some of Hawai‘i’s top musicians including Aunty Genoa Keawe.

Just found out that Auntie Nickie is in Castle Hospital RM 212 after another heart attack. Prognosis does not look good at this time.

Aloha 'Ohana, I asked the folks at KMC if the public can make reservations; here's the answer:
All of our guests are military, or have some sort of military affiliation (are being sponsored by military individuals). If you have any questions or need more information, please feel free to contact us.

Marjorie M. Murray Sumner, 83, of Hilo, a Pan American World Airways retiree, died in Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Hilo. She is survived by sons Reed B. and Charles; daughter Bambi L. Sumner Abalos; brothers Donald J., Robert, Melvin and Bruce Murray; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Oahu services: 11 a.m. Jan. 5 at Kailua Beach Pavilion. Hawaii island services: 11 a.m. Jan. 18 at the family’s Keaukaha beach house. Casual attire.
